            1. NUS Research

              At NUS, we push boundaries to achieve research excellence through multiple disciplines. We have adopted an integrated approach that brings together researchers from diverse fields. Through the combined strength of our faculties, schools, research institutes and centres, we have built eight integrative research clusters. These are ageing, Asian studies, biomedical science and translational medicine, finance and risk management, integrative sustainability solutions, maritime, materials science and smart nation.

              Global Collaborations

              Partnerships

              At NUS, we create synergies that cross boundaries by teaming up with government, industry and leading academic partners in Singapore and around the world. Such partnerships play an important role in helping NUS inventions make the transition from the laboratory to the marketplace.

              Corporate Laboratories

              Corporate laboratories are established through public-private research & development partnerships between universities and companies, and are supported by the National Research Foundation's corporate lab scheme.

              Technology Consortia

              Several technology consortia have been established with support from the National Research Foundation to integrate research outcomes around a technology area. NUS is a founding member in 6 consortia to date.

              Research Administration

              The Office of the Deputy President (Research and Technology)

              Research at NUS is supported by the Office of the Deputy President (Research and Technology). We provide oversight of the University's research compliance and integrity, grant administration, strategic initiatives, industry engagement and alliances, as well as research communications and promotion. We also incorporate the NUS Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), which oversees the care and use of animals for scientific purposes in NUS, and the Institutional Review Board, which approves and monitors the ethical aspects of all NUS research projects that involve human subjects and human tissues/cells/data.

              ChenTsuhanWebThe Deputy President (Research and Technology)

              Professor Chen Tsuhan was appointed Deputy President (Research and Technology) and Distinguished Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) on 1 June 2018. Prof Chen is a renowned expert in pattern recognition, computer vision, and machine learning. He is also the Chief Scientist of AI Singapore, a national programme in artificial intelligence hosted at NUS.
